Indicators
5.6.1
5.6.2Proportion of women aged 15-49 years who make their own informed decisions regarding sexual relations, contraceptive use and reproductive health care
Definition
Denmark does not produce continuous official statistics on this indicator. However, through free and equal access to general practitioners, women have access to advice and information on sexual matters, the use of contraception, and reproductive health services.
The Consent Act (effective from 1 January 2021) strengthens the right to sexual self-determination as a legal framework that supports individuals’ ability to make informed decisions about sexual relationships, including the right to refuse consent.
Under the new abortion Act (effective from 1 June 2025) women have gained, among other things, access to abortion later in pregnancy, up to the end of the 18th week of gestation. In addition, young women aged 15–17 can obtain an abortion without parental consent.
