Definition
The indicator is calculated by Statistics Denmark. It is based on equivalised disposable income, i.e. income after taxes and adjusted for the economies of scale associated with living in a household with others. The indicator measures income development for the lowest 40 percent of the income distribution compared to income development in the total population. It includes an index of income development (2015 = 100), average income in DKK thousands both with and without adjustment for inflation, and the share of total income held by the lowest 40 percent.
The indicator is calculated annually, rather than over a five-year period as defined by the United Nations.
