Definition

Maternal mortality refers to the number of deaths among pregnant women and women within 42 days after the end of a pregnancy (regardless of the duration of the pregnancy), per 100,000 live births.

Cases are audited and confirmed by the Danish Maternal Mortality Group under the Danish Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology (DSOG's Maternal Mortality Group — DSOG).
