Data banks

ADAM's data bank contains economic key figures which give a suitable and detailed description of the Danish economy. It contains more than 3000 key figures on an annual basis covering the period from the most recent national accounts year back to 1966. The data bank is produced for model use and the time series are therefore consistent and cleared for breaks in data. , The data bank contains data from national accounts, labour market, public finances and financial key numbers. The model ADAM

ADAM (Annual Danish Aggregate Model) is a macroeconomic model developed by the macroeconomic modelling unit of Statistics Denmark. The model gives a simplified mathematical description of the interactions in the Danish economy., The main users of ADAM are the Danish ministries of finance and of economic affairs. In addition a number of interest organisations and financial institutions use the model., It is important that the model is empirically based and most of the behavioral equations are estimated on national accounts data. ADAM is characterised by being a large and disaggregated model., The model is constantly developed and changes are collected in model versions published on average every second year. First year effects

Effects of fiscal policy is an important part of the usage of ADAM. The short run effects are affected by changes in the model and data bank. The short run characteristics are thus analysed regularly - typically in connection with , new model versions, . The model properties are analysed by comparing with the previous model version and focus on the differences in the models properties coming from changes in the model and data bank. Analysis of the short run characteristics is similar to the , standard multiplier analysis, . the main difference is that focus is on the effects in the first couple of years with emphasis on the connection between fiscal policy and aggregated economic activity., More on first year effects in ADAM, (Danish only).

Model versions

Continuous work with the model ensures that both equations and data are developed and improved. A new model version will typically collect the results of research efforts in several areas. A new model version is thus associated with testing, error detection and documentation. Before releasing a new model version, users are invited to test a beta version throughout a period of approximately 3 months. After the beta period the new model is finalised and serves as the official model version., A model version is a package with a new model, new data bank and revised forward projections and base line. In addition it is often necessary to revise many of the tools and smaller models that are offered together with ADAM. Documentation of equations, data and model characteristics are renewed in connection with the production of a new model version. The model versions are typically released every 1-2 years. The frequency varies depending on the number of changes in equations and data. It can be more frequently, for example in connection with main revisions in the National Accounts.,
