What is your data used for?

Here, producers report prices for services at the first stage of distribution, i.e., producers' sales prices to other producers (business to business), excluding VAT. Your reporting is essential to illustrate the price development of goods at the first stage of distribution. A price index is calculated for this purpose. The statistics are used by National Accounts Statistics, among others, for fixed-price calculations, but also serve as a business cycle indicator and for contract adjustments in the business sector. See "Latest news from the statistic" at the bottom of the page.

Who has to report and why?

Reporting is mandatory by law

EU legislation requires Denmark to produce several business-related statistics.

The Act on Statistics Denmark, section 8-12a obliges companies to report information for statistical purposes.

The number of companies required to report

Statistics Denmark requests approximately 450 companies to provide mandatory quarterly reports for this statistic each year.

How are companies selected?

The sample consists of a range of industry groupings defined by the European regulation that the statistics follow. Within each industry group, the largest companies are selected based on turnover (top-down) to achieve the highest possible coverage of industry turnover. By selecting the largest companies within a given service group, it is assumed that prices are collected from price setters, ensuring a representative sample for the entire service group. Each of these companies is asked to select their most representative services, i.e., their best-selling services within a given industry group. Due to significant differences between industries, they are treated independently with their own sample.

Typical time required per report

Companies can voluntarily report their time spent in the reporting solution. Companies typically spend around 10 minutes on this reporting – including access, obtaining information, data entry, and possible support. Based on the median time per report, the total time spent by the business sector is estimated at 282 hours annually.
