Completion of education

How many complete or discontinue their education? Do they discontinue their education early or late in the programme? This set of statistics shows how many start, discontinue and complete an education in the education group after one and five years.

University-qualifying education, i.e. provides access to higher education.

A professional education which gives the student a vocational qualification. A vocational education typically consists of a basic course and a main course, which both varies in content and length. The typical length of a vocational education is 4 years. Examples of vocational educations are bricklayer, carpenter and electrician.

Higher education is based on upper secondary education or vocational education. Higher education covers short, medium, bachelor and long cycle higher education as well as Ph.D. education.

Early discontinuation of education

The figure shows the development in early discontinuation (within a year) for the different groups of education programmes qualifying students for the labour market. If a person makes a switch to another programme within the education group, this does not count as discontinuation. For example from biology to biochemistry, or from carpenter to bricklayer.

The Education Transition Register

The purpose of The Education Transition Register is to give a fundament for describing transitions through the education system beside the one there are in The Student Register. In The Education Transition Register there is a number of simple counts of movements in the education system, ex the number of time a student change education within the same group of education and completion time.

The Student Registre

The Students Register, which was established in the early 1970's, is a longitudinal register that allow you to follow the educational careers of students in the mainline education system. The purpose of The Student Register is to analyze entrance to, enrolment in and graduation from the mainline education system as well as transmissions of student within the system.
